Super Smash Bros. Classic
|
This section of the site devoted to the game that started it all, Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64. There is a lot of information and screenshots here that you'll have a hard time finding on other sites.
Super Smash Bros. was released for the N64 on April 26th, 1999. It was somewhat different than other fighting games, because of its damage system.
The point of the game is to knock your opponents off the screen. Everybody starts out with 0% damage, and gains damage as they are hit. The higher the % damage, the farther you fly when you are hit.
Up to 4 people can battle each other in Vs. Mode. There are free-for-all matches and team matches. You can also choose a game that is timed, or a game where each character has a certain number of lives (stock).
The game has 12 playable characters, all of which are Nintendo characters. 4 of those characters must be unlocked before they can be played.
There are 9 selectable stages. One of these stages must be unlocked. There are also other stages that can only be played on certain modes (1P game, Target Test, Board the platform).
Items are randomly dropped onto the stage. You are able to pick them up and use them. Most items can be used to attack your opponent, but some have other effects, such as healing.
